How to Instruct an Agent to Create Landing Pages (Part 1)
  • Marketing Agent

A landing page traditionally took weeks to create and required a small team: a copywriter to write the content, a designer to create the layout, and a developer to build and host the page. Even changing one headline after launch could restart the entire process.

AI has changed that. You can now instruct a single agent to handle the entire job. In this guide, you'll train your marketing agent to do exactly that. You'll start by building the skill that writes the copy.

By the end of this guide, you'll:

  • Understand what makes a landing page convert and explore the three types you'll create.
  • Gather the three ingredients your skill needs: your writing system, templates, and examples.
  • Build a reusable skill that writes landing page copy in your voice.

Note: This is Part 1 of two. Here, you'll build the skill that writes your landing page copy. In Part 2, you'll build and publish a real page with Claude Code or Codex.

What is a landing page, and when should you build one?

A landing page is a page with a single purpose: turning a visitor into a customer or lead. Unlike a full website, which serves many goals at once, it guides the visitor toward one action, such as signing up, buying, or booking. One page, one goal. That focus helps it convert.

Build a landing page when you want to lead visitors to one clear action. You might use one for a paid advertising campaign, a product waitlist, or a service you want to turn into enquiries.

Some landing pages stand alone without menus, so nothing distracts from the goal. Others live on your site as dedicated pages. These work well for services that require more trust before a visitor takes action.

The goal of the page determines its type:

Type Goal The action Best for
Lead capture Turn interest into a contact Sign up, join, register Waitlists, newsletters, sign-up offers
Service Build trust, earn an enquiry Request, book, download Presenting a service, warmer traffic
Sales or ad Sell directly Buy, book a call Paid campaigns, one focused offer

What goes into a landing-page-copy-writer skill?

A skill combines instructions, reference material, and examples to produce consistent results.

A landing-page-copy-writer skill needs three ingredients:

  • Your writing system so the copy sounds like you.
  • One or more templates so every page follows a proven structure.
  • Examples so the skill knows what "good" looks like.

Next, you'll gather all three and assemble them into the skill.
