What is deep research?

It's different from a normal chat or a quick web search. A quick search returns a short summary with links. Deep research reads and analyzes many sources, then produces a detailed, documented report. Reach for it when a question is multi-step and needs synthesis across sources, like a market analysis or a competitor breakdown. Skip it for a quick fact.
Before you start: deep research usage depends on your plan, so a Plus subscription or higher is recommended. It isn't working in the desktop app right now, so run it on the web (chatgpt.com). Use the latest Sol model in Chat mode with Intelligence set to High.
