Your expertise no longer limits what you can build. After two decades in digital products, I help professionals build and manage their own AI agents, with practical, step-by-step how-to guides.
Most professionals spend half their week writing texts – emails explaining a new procedure, reports summarizing project progress, memos announcing a policy change. These texts take longer than they should, not because the content is complex, but because structuring clear, factual writing from scratch is slow. Claude can handle the structure and drafting while you focus on accuracy and judgment.
You'll build a repeatable workflow, step by step, with an editorial check at each stage.
By the end of this guide, you'll:
Set up a Claude project dedicated to writing informative texts.
Build a repeatable workflow that takes you from content outline to polished draft.
Write informative texts – from short emails to long reports – with an editorial check at every step, and save each one as an example.
Note: This builds on your writing system and the project setup from Prompts Part 2. It also adds a third kind of context: good examples. Your writing system gives Claude your audience and voice, your research gives it the facts, and your examples show it what "good" looks like. You build them as you write.
What are informative texts, and when do you write them?
Informative texts are anything you write to inform your reader clearly and factually about a topic, process, or development. They prioritize clarity over persuasion: the goal is understanding, not action.
You write them more often than you think. Here are the common categories:
Category
Examples
Internal communication
Policy memos, information memos, business announcements
Reports
Project reports, analysis reports, meeting reports, status updates
Explanation and instruction
Manuals, roadmaps, FAQs, tutorials, process descriptions
One workflow covers all of them. You'll set up a project once, then start a new chat each time you need a specific text.
Set up your informative text workflow
1. Set up a project
Set up a Claude project for writing informative texts, the same way you built your prompt builder in Part 2. Work in Cowork mode with the latest Opus model. Put your writing system in a local folder and connect it to the project:
Relevant personas: help Claude understand your target audience.
Value propositions: keep the message focused on the benefits of your offering or expertise.
Your writing guide: keeps the tone and style consistent.
Under Local folder, choose that folder, and set Visibility to Local. Claude reads these files as context – and in Cowork it can save your finished examples straight back to the folder.
You can create one general project for all informative texts, or specific projects per content type or medium:
One general project – for all informative content.
Per content type – internal communication, formal reporting, knowledge transfer, decision support.
Per medium – emails, memos, reports, updates, explanations, informative content.
Choose the approach that best fits how you organize and produce content.
2. Expand your project knowledge (optional)
The more relevant material in your project, the better Claude understands your context and the more effective its texts. Two things help most:
Research. When a text needs facts, add a cited report to the project. Research turns a question into one you can drop straight in.
Good examples. Your best finished texts. You'll add these as you write (step 8), and they show Claude what "good" looks like.
